Privacy Policy

Effective date: March 5th, 2026

Welcome to The Wave (“The Wave,” “we,” “us,” “our”), operated by Molly Grantham Media LLC. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect information in connection with our website betonthewave.com (the “Site”), our mobile applications (the “Apps”), and our membership program and related services (collectively, the “Services”).

By using the Services, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

1) Information We Collect

We collect information in three main ways: (a) information you provide, (b) information collected automatically, and (c) information from third parties.

A. Information you provide to us

Depending on how you use the Services, you may provide:

  • Account & membership information: name, email address, username, password (or authentication token), subscription status, membership tier, and account preferences.
  • Member profile information (members-only): profile photo, display name, bio, interests, and other information you choose to include in your profile. Member profiles are only visible to logged-in members (subject to the features and settings we offer).
  • Payments & billing (via Stripe): We do not store full payment card numbers. Our payment processor (Stripe) collects and processes payment details. We may receive limited information such as billing name, billing address, payment status, partial payment method details (e.g., last 4 digits), and transaction identifiers.
  • Communications: messages to support, survey responses, feedback, or other communications.
  • User-generated content (UGC): content you post or submit, such as comments, posts, images, and replies in member areas.
  • Video and audio content: if you choose to record or upload video content in the Apps, we may collect the video, associated audio, thumbnails/previews, and related metadata needed to process, store, and deliver that content.
  • Notification data: push token / device notification identifier and notification preference settings.

B. Information collected automatically

When you use the Services, we may automatically collect:

  • Device & usage data: IP address, device type, operating system, browser type, app version, device identifiers, language settings, and activity on our Services.
  • Cookies & similar technologies: cookies, pixels, local storage, and SDKs to remember preferences, provide functionality, and understand usage (see Section 6).

C. Information from third parties

We may receive information from:

  • Payment and fraud prevention providers (e.g., Stripe), such as payment confirmation, subscription status, and risk signals.
  • App stores and platforms (Apple App Store, Google Play) may collect information in connection with app downloads and updates, subject to their policies. We do not sell subscriptions through app stores and do not receive app-store purchase data for subscription fulfillment.

2) How We Use Information

We use information to:

  • Provide and operate the Services (create accounts, enable membership features, deliver content, and maintain member profiles).
  • Process subscriptions and payments through Stripe (including fraud prevention, dispute handling, and accounting).
  • Send transactional communications related to your account and membership (e.g., verification emails, receipts, subscription confirmations, password resets, service notices, and important updates).
  • Send marketing communications (e.g., newsletters, product updates, and promotions). You can opt out of marketing emails at any time (see Section 12).
  • Improve and develop the Services (analytics, debugging, feature testing, performance monitoring).
  • Personalize your experience (showing member content and community features within logged-in member areas).
  • Moderate and enforce rules (prevent abuse, investigate violations, protect users, and enforce our Terms).
  • Comply with legal obligations and protect rights, safety, and property.

3) Analytics (Google Analytics)

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the Site. Some web content displayed within the Apps may also be subject to analytics or server logging associated with the Site. Google Analytics may collect information such as:

  • pages/screens visited, time spent, links clicked,
  • approximate location (derived from IP), device and browser details,
  • and usage patterns.

Google may use cookies or similar technologies to collect this information. We use the resulting analytics to improve the Services, understand engagement, and measure performance.

Note on advertising pixels: We do not use third-party advertising pixels (such as Meta Pixel) for behavioral advertising tracking.

Your choices: You can limit cookies in your browser settings and may be able to use Google’s opt-out tools.

We do not use third-party advertising SDKs or cross-app behavioral tracking in the Apps.

4) Payments (Stripe Only)

All subscriptions and payments for The Wave are processed through Stripe.

  • Payment information is handled directly by Stripe under their privacy and security practices.
  • We may receive limited transaction-related information (e.g., confirmation that you paid, subscription status, partial payment method details, and transaction IDs).
  • Stripe may use your information for fraud detection, identity verification (where applicable), and compliance.

5) Apps: Apple and Google

If you use our Apps, please note:

  • Apple and Google (e.g., Apple App Store and Google Play) may collect information in connection with app downloads, updates, and device/platform services, subject to their policies.
  • We do not use “Sign in with Apple” or Google Sign-In to create or access accounts.
  • Subscriptions are not sold through app stores; they are sold via Stripe.

5A) App Permissions, Media, and Notifications

  • If you use our Apps, we may request access to certain device features only when needed for a feature you choose to use.
  • Photos / Media Library: We may request access so you can select and upload profile photos, business photos, or other images you choose to submit.
  • Camera and Microphone: We may request access so you can record and upload video replies or other video content you choose to create in the Apps.
  • Push Notifications: If you enable notifications, we may collect and store your push token, notification preferences, and related delivery metadata so we can send account, community, and content updates.
  • You can change these permissions at any time in your device settings. Disabling permissions may limit certain app features.

6) Cookies and Similar Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to:

  • keep you logged in and remember preferences,
  • enable core features (account access and membership functionality),
  • understand usage and improve performance (e.g., Google Analytics),
  • help prevent fraud and secure the Services.

Your choices: You can control cookies through your browser settings. If you disable cookies, some features may not function properly.

7) Member Profiles and Visibility (Members-Only)

The membership program may allow users to create profiles and interact with other members.

  • Members-only visibility: Member profiles and member community areas are intended to be visible only to logged-in members.
  • Be mindful of what you share: Content you post in member areas may be viewed by other members.
  • No public indexing intended: We do not intend for member profiles to be indexed by search engines; however, technical factors outside our control can occur.

8) User-Generated Content (UGC)

If you submit content (posts, comments, images, etc.) in member areas:

  • Your UGC and associated profile information may be visible to other logged-in members.
  • We may use UGC to operate, maintain, and improve the Services (for example, displaying it in feeds and moderating it).
  • We may remove or restrict UGC that violates our Terms or community guidelines.
  • If you upload video content, that content may be processed, stored, and delivered by our media hosting / streaming providers on our behalf.

Deletion note: If you delete content, copies may remain in backups for a limited period or where it has been shared by others, consistent with law and legitimate business needs.

9) How We Share Information

We may share information:

  • With service providers who help us run the Services (hosting, analytics like Google Analytics, payment processing like Stripe, email delivery providers, customer support tools, and security/fraud tools). Examples of service providers may include payment processors (such as Stripe), website analytics providers (such as Google Analytics), push notification and platform delivery providers, media hosting / streaming providers, hosting providers, email delivery providers, customer support tools, and security / fraud-prevention providers.
  • With other members when you post content or share profile information within members-only areas.
  • For legal reasons if required by law, regulation, or legal process, or to protect rights, safety, and security.
  • In a business transfer (merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets), where information may be transferred subject to this Privacy Policy.

We do not sell your personal information in the ordinary sense.

We require service providers acting on our behalf to protect personal information in a manner consistent with this Privacy Policy and applicable law.

10) Data Retention

We keep information as long as reasonably necessary to:

  • provide the Services,
  • maintain your account and subscription,
  • send account-related communications,
  • comply with legal obligations,
  • resolve disputes,
  • enforce agreements.

Retention periods vary depending on the type of data and why we collected it.

Account deletion: You may request deletion of your account through the in-app account deletion feature and/or through our website account deletion process.

When your deletion request is completed, we will delete or de-identify personal information associated with your account, except where we need to retain certain information for legal compliance, security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, tax/accounting, recordkeeping, or backup / disaster recovery purposes.

If you posted content in member community areas, certain content may remain in backups for a limited time and, where necessary, may be retained or de-identified to preserve community conversations or comply with legal obligations.

We may verify your identity before processing deletion requests.

11) Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information. However, no system can be guaranteed 100% secure. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential.

We use HTTPS / TLS and other reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal and sensitive user data in transit and at rest.

12) Your Choices and Rights

  • Marketing emails: You can opt out at any time by using the unsubscribe link in the email or by contacting us.
